The Great Dust Bridge

Every year, millions of tons of dust rise from the Sahara Desert in Africa. This dust is rich in phosphorus, an essential nutrient.

The wind carries this dust across the Atlantic Ocean. It crosses political borders without a passport. This is transboundary interconnectivity.

When the dust reaches the Amazon Basin in South America, it falls to the ground. It fertilizes the rainforest, helping trees grow strong.
